New route relay system at Bhopal station
Home News New route relay system at Bhopal station
THE ROUTE relay interlocking and yard remodelling work expected to be finished by Monday was completed on Sunday, a day in advance. Railway officials now hope that the rail traffic would be back to normal soon.

DRM Ashok Agarwal said the new system was now in place and currently under observation. He hoped that the passengers would not face any inconvenience from Monday and train traffic would stabilise.

Until now, the Bhopal station had mechanical signaling system where a lever had to be pulled to set the track and railway operation was monitored from cabins but now just a single person will set the route with the push of button.

"It will make rain movement safer and also the trains will run on time,"said Agarwal addressing a press conference on Sunday evening. He said now the yard modelling work has completed, the train that used to run at a speed of 15 kph would run at 30 kph.

This is the third place to have such a system in the division after Itarsi and Nishatpura yard. Bina will also have the system soon. Railway officials hope that trains that had to be stopped outside the platform and made to wait for clearance at the station, will now get to the station early. Especially, the trains from Bairagarh will get benefited.

The Bhopal railway station remained overcrowded with passengers waiting for their trains. Many trains including Vindhayachal Express, Malwa Express, Mysore Express, Pench Valley Express, Bilaspur Express, Chhattisgarh Express, Tulsi Express and GT Express were running several hours behind schedule.
