In signaling, Relay Based Interlocking followed mechanical interlocking. With the evolution of signaling practices, Relay based Interlocking has considerably reduced the space requirement compared to large heavy lever frames and outdoor gears in mechanical interlocking.
This technology was developed through various types of relays metal to metal contact relay (German Practice), Metal to carbon contact relays (British Practice). Germans practice employs relay groups (Mini & Major) developed by Siemens and individual relays developed by ABB. For metals to carbon contact relays of various types, British practices are employed.
Both the above practices are relay based interlocking and have been employed in the projects awarded to us involving PIs & RRIs etc and we handled the design, equipment installations, testing and commissioning with this technology. |
